Measurement Technology: Optical

The optical laboratory of the OUT e.V. provides a comprehensive measuring technology for the characterization of the electrical, optical and mechanical properties of LEDs.

We measure:

o Luminous flux in lm or mW
o Brightness in cd
o Radiation angle; radiation characteristics
o Current-light characteristics
o Luminous efficacy/efficiency (lm/W)
o Dominant wavelength
o Color rendering index
o Color temperature
o Color coordinates according to CIE1931 and CIE1976
o Spectral distribution and derived parameters

Messbereiche sind:

o Measurement of the radiation and luminous flux as well as the beam and light intensity in the spectral range between 193 and 1600 nm
o Goniometric measurement of optical quantities, e.g. the luminous intensity distribution body or the color temperature distribution body
o Transmission, absorption and reflection measurements from 200 to 2500 nm. Spectrally resolved measurement of the bidirectional scattering function of solid surfaces between 198 and 1115 nm
o Reflection spectrograms for azimuth and elongation – 90° to 90° for 198 nm to 1115 nm. Optoelectronic short pulse measurements on LEDs with 0.5 ns time resolution and 2 ns rise time
o Excitation spectroscopy: excitation between 200 nm and 1000 nm and emission spectra between 198 nm and 1115 nm on solid and liquid samples
o Measurements on large (<0.5 m) and small (> 1 mm) objects
