Measurement Instruments
Optical, electrical and mechanical properties of solids with flat surfaces are investigated with different analytical methods. We use SCOUT, Igor Pro, SpectraRay and OPUS for data processing.
Measuring optical properties
Spectrophotometric measurements of transmission, absolute reflexion and absorption in a spectral range of 0,2 µm – 1,25 mm:
- Determination of optical constants n(λ), k(λ) from T(λ), R(λ),
- Sample geometry 10mm x10mm – 20mm x 30mm
- Cell holder (cuvette holder) for liquids is available
- ATR (Diamond), λ < 19 µm = WZ > 525 cm-1
- Determination of optical constants n(λ), k(λ) from ∆(λ), Ψ(λ),
- Thickness determination of ultrathin films

Measurement devices for solids (with flat surfaces) and liquids:
- UV-VIS-double beam-Spectrometer Varian Cary 5E: 200nm – 3200nm
- Vacuum-FTIR-Spectrometer Bruker Vertex 70V: 8000cm-1- 8 cm-1 ,
max. resolution 0,16 cm-1
- Spectroscopic ellipsometer Sentech SE 850: 280nm – 2400nm
